Junior Golf at Tandragee

Nurturing our junior players is an important aspect of our club. The belief that good habits are best learned young has always been to the fore. We are very fortunate our PGA Professional Dympna Keenan has taken on the dual role of Club Professional and Junior Convenor. Dympna has developed a system which has enabled her to instill discipline and etiquette within the Junior section. Dympna has encouraged parental involvement as the boys and girls compete every Saturday afternoon from April through to September in 4, 9 or 18 hole competitions.

Pictured is Junior Captain for our Centenary year, Luke Brown. We wish him every success and an enjoyable year.

Golf4Girls4Life

G4G4L is an amazing opportunity for girls aged 5-18 to participate in golf and enjoy the benefits that it brings.
We have had a remarkably successful three years running this program under the guidance of CGI, hopefully we will continue to do so. Each session has welcomed twenty plus girls of all ages and skill levels.
On course we cover four stages which include skill based fun games, fun rules/etiquette quizzes, competitions, and prizes. This alongside professional coaching from PGA Professional Dympna Keenan all helps to encourage and develop the girls’ confidence and individual skill sets whether they have played or not. We have been incredibly lucky to have been joined by Olivia Mehaffey on several occasions as she is a great inspiration to all juniors.

Each stage has its own ambassador
Stage 1 – Getting into Golf – Olivia Mehaffey
Stage 2 – engage with Golf – Leona Maquire
Stage 3 – Play Golf – Stephanie Meadows
Stage 4 – Progress in Golf – Maria Dunne

The girls progress through to stage 4 where they obtain their ILGU handicap and then can join Stages 5 and 6 overseen by Maria Dunne (Curtis Cup Player) which can lead on to selection stages for teams in the future.
This programme is ideal to give an insight to a new sport and encourage girls to play golf from a young age and right through their life.
